This is a walking tour. Wear comfortable shoes or you will be dead tired. Here are a few of the reasons Scranton is considered one of the world's most haunted cities. Few towns or places in the world has such a sorted history of corruption, tragic deaths, mine disasters, union masacares, Black Hand bombings, prostutiion, and poverty as the Scranton Wilkes Barre Pocono Pittston area. The famous Smurl house was in NE PA in West Pittston that the film "The Haunted" was based on.

Scranton native Jason Miller was the handsome excorcist priest in the ground breaking film "The Exorcist" that was based on a true story, died here of a heart attack in one of our downtown pubs. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his part in what was is first move role. He also won several other awards. 13 was not his lucky number.

The way historians tell it, the toll of the 1918 flu pandemic was so overwhelming that Scranton businesses like the former dry goods store at 320 Penn Ave. were forced to become temporary resting places for bodies of the victims.
